Port Bouvard Ltd Seeks Gidgegannup Community’s Views

Media Release Friday 16 November

Port Bouvard Ltd will issue a questionnaire to all Gidgegannup households this week as part of its community consultation process relating to 480 hectares of land, which the company recently purchased in the area.

Having already met with local stakeholder groups, including Gidgegannup Progress Association, Woorooloo Brook Land Conservation District Committee and City of Swan, as well as local business operators, the survey will seek to provide further information about the general community and their long term aspirations.

Mr John Wroth, Development Director for Port Bouvard Ltd, stated that the residents’ survey was the first step in an extensive community consultation process.

“Port Bouvard Ltd has officially withdrawn the plans that were lodged with the City of Swan by the previous owner Mr Michael Coleman of Riseley Investments,” Mr Wroth said.

“Prior to submitting any further plans, we are keen to hear the views of all residents, as ultimately any development in the Gidgegannup area will need to reflect and meet their needs as well as those of future residents.”

The survey will seek to determine residents’ usage of local community facilities and businesses, as well as what they would like to see created in the local community.  The survey will also seek residents’ viewpoints on various sustainability practices.

Mr Wroth stated that Port Bouvard Ltd was aware of Gidgegannup’s unique traits.

“Gidgegannup reflects a distinctive rural character which we are keen to enhance over the long term with any future development,” Mr Wroth said.

“Ultimately the guiding principles that have been set under the North Eastern Hills Settlement Pattern Plan will oversee the development, but community input is also vital to ensure that the area will become self sustaining in the long term.”

The Port Bouvard Ltd surveys are to be returned to appointed consultants SMR, in the reply paid envelope by Wednesday 12 December 2007.
